Hekate Remembered - The Keeper of Sacred Thresholds
Transformation rarely begins when the path is clear. It begins when we remain at the threshold long enough to hear our own knowing.
Every woman arrives here.
Not once. Many times.
There comes a moment when the life we have known no longer fits, and yet the life that is calling us has not fully appeared.
We have left something behind – but we have not yet arrived anywhere new.
We stand between identities, between seasons, between endings and beginnings, between certainty and trust.
This is the threshold.
And this is where Hekate waits.
The Keeper of the Threshold
Hekate is often described as the goddess of the crossroads - but perhaps the crossroads are only the surface of her wisdom.
In Remembrance Astrology, Hekate is the keeper of sacred thresholds.
She stands wherever one version of ourselves is ending and another has not yet fully emerged. She reminds us that transformation begins when we are willing to remain in uncertainty without abandoning ourselves.
After the Descent
In Inanna Remembered, we descended. We surrendered certainty, status, identity, the familiar self.
Then the Moon invited us to feel what that descent had uncovered: the grief, the longing, the tenderness, the truth beneath survival.
Now another invitation appears: not to descend further, not yet to return, but to remain.
This may be the most difficult part of initiation because the mind longs for certainty – but the soul asks for presence.
The Threshold Is Not Empty
We often imagine thresholds as places where nothing is happening – like waiting rooms, delays or interruptions to our “progress”.
But Hekate teaches something entirely different.
The threshold is where the old self loosens its grip.
The threshold is where the new self quietly gathers strength.
The threshold is where the questions become wiser than the answers.
The threshold is where intuition becomes louder than the need for certainty.
The Devotion of Remaining
Modern life pushes us into solving uncertainty as quickly as possible because it’s a “bad” thing, so we must choose, decide, fix, move, know.
Hekate asks something of us that requires more courage than that, more devotion to ourselves.
Can you remain at the threshold?
Can you stay with the unanswered question?
Can you allow yourself not to know for a while?
Can you trust that clarity sometimes arrives because we stop chasing it with our mind and instead feel it in our body?
Remaining is not passive; it is devotional. Remaining is the quiet courage to stay present while a deeper wisdom arises.
The Three Mirrors of Remembrance
The threshold appears everywhere.
In the Sky, it is twilight, the meeting place of day and night.
On the Earth, it is the shoreline, where land becomes sea and neither fully disappears.
Within the Body, it is the breath between exhaling and inhaling.
The pause. The stillness. The moment before something new begins.
Hekate reminds us that these liminal spaces are not empty; these liminal spaces are sacred and powerful.
Descent • Revelation • Return
The descent teaches us to release what no longer belongs.
The revelation comes through staying at the threshold, through listening, through waiting without collapsing into fear.
Then comes the return - because we stayed quiet enough to listen, because we held our nerve and didn’t retreat back into that old room, because we didn’t immediately rush forward into the new room, because we stayed at the threshold long enough for something to happen: we remembered.
The Woman Who Remembers
The woman who remembers Hekate no longer mistakes uncertainty for failure.
She understands that thresholds are part of every meaningful life. She no longer rushes herself across them, and nor does she retreat into what has already ended.
She learns to stand with one hand on what has been and with one hand reaching towards what is becoming.
She does not yet fully know the path forward but she has begun trusting the woman who is walking it.
A Question for Your Own Remembering
Where in your life are you standing at a threshold? What if nothing has gone wrong? What if this uncertainty is not asking you to decide more quickly but to remain long enough for the next version of yourself to arrive?
With love & stardust,
Alyssa

THE PRIESTESS PATH: Every Sunday, in the liminal space between one week and the next, The Priestess Path explores the emotional architecture beneath identity and invites you to pause, reflect, and remember.
Remembrance Astrology: The Symbolic Architecture of Remembrance - Remembrance Astrology is a symbolic approach to astrology that explores the deeper patterns of remembrance beneath identity. Every planet, sign, temple, and Feminine Mystery reveals a different aspect of the self seeking to return from beneath conditioning, survival, and inherited identity. Each reflection explores one archetype through three questions: What is trying to be remembered? What has been forgotten? What is now ready to return? Together, they guide us through the symbolic journey of Descent → Revelation → Return – recovering ancient meanings that may have been diminished, forgotten or obscured over time.
